Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What can therapy help me with?
Therapy can help you navigate the challenges that affect your work, relationships, and overall well-being. Whether you're experiencing stress, burnout, sleep difficulties, emotional overwhelm, relationship concerns, career transitions, major life changes, or the impact of high-pressure roles, we're here to help. Our approach also includes diagnostic assessment to determine whether a mental health diagnosis may be contributing to your concerns.
Â
What happens during the first therapy session?
Your first session will be a diagnostic assessment to help clarify any mental health diagnoses and guide your treatment. While the assessment includes many questions, our therapists strive to make you feel comfortable and understand that building trust takes time. After the assessment, we'll discuss your preferences and thoughtfully match you with the member of our counseling team who is the best clinical fit for your needs.
Â
How do you incorporate culture, diversity, and lived experience into therapy?
Your background, culture, identity, values, and lived experiences shape how you see the world, cope with challenges, and relate to others. We take time to understand your identity and how it influences the concerns you're facing, the goals you have, and the changes you want to make. You are the expert on your own life. Our role is to bring clinical expertise, evidence-based strategies, and a different perspective to help you better understand patterns, navigate challenges, and build skills to support that life. We consider intersectional context, including your relationships, family, work, community, origins, and experiences of discrimination or adversity.
Do I have to be in therapy for the rest of my life?
No. Therapy isn't meant to last forever. Our goal is to help you make meaningful progress, reduce symptoms, build effective skills, and feel confident navigating challenges on your own. Some clients are ready to transition out of regular therapy within a few months, while others benefit from longer-term treatment. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust your treatment plan based on your needs and goals. If you'd like continued support after completing treatment, we offer an aftercare option with periodic follow-up sessions to help you maintain your progress and navigate new challenges as they arise.
What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't work?
If therapy hasn't worked for you in the past, you're not alone. Many people seek therapy after feeling frustrated that they spent months or years talking about their struggles without experiencing the change they hoped for. Sometimes the issue isn't the person, but that the therapy lacked clear goals, an effective approach, or practical skills. Our focus is on evidence-based treatments, skill building, and creating a clear path toward progress.
How often will we meet?
Most clients meet weekly or twice per month during active treatment. This consistency helps you make progress, practice new skills, and address challenges before they become bigger problems. Our goal is not to have you come in only when symptoms flare up. Regular treatment allows us to focus on the underlying patterns contributing to your concerns so you can build lasting change.

Do you offer virtual therapy or in person?
We offer both in-person and virtual therapy options for appropriate clients. Our preference is to meet in person whenever possible because we believe it supports connection, engagement, and meaningful progress in therapy. Clients who reside in Indiana may have the option to combine in-person and virtual sessions, with up to 50% of appointments completed virtually when clinically appropriate.
